Luke Combs Is “Country Music Today”

They say your music taste evolves over time, and I think this takes place for almost everyone over the years.  High school was filled with all beats and rap, which I will always go back to the well on but not my go to these days in 2018.

Three years ago I went to a Jason Aldean concert and saw both Thomas Rhett and A Thousand Horses open up for him and from then on was hooked on the country scene.  Not to mention that I then also picked up a guitar and started messing around with some chords.

That guitar was also a huge driver in my newfound interest for sure.

Fast forward a bit to the last year or so when I started to follow the rise of Luke Combs.  This guy doesn’t have the typical hollywood country swagger, which is why people and fans have gravitated towards him.  He throws on one of his PFG hats and goes out there and kills it with a red solo cup…nothing special.

He’s from from Asheville, NC and didn’t even pick up a guitar until he was in his twenties, how crazy is that?

He seems like a real good guy that is filled with appreciation and authenticity, and that’s what people love about him.

Even with all his recent success he still apparently lives in a regular old apartment, with plans to move out soon and get “a real im a country star now crib”.  Just another reason why he’s just the next guy at the bar sitting next to you, but happens to have a killer voice and talent.

Last night he won his first major country music award for “New Artist of The Year” and as the video shows he was genuinely shocked and just overall elated to be in the position he is.

Luke Combs is modern day country, and he’s arguably the biggest emerging star today.

I plan to see this guy in Nashville one day for sure.
