Does your site pass the “eye test” for emailing affiliate offers?

Affiliate Marketing and Email Marketing go hand in hand.

You build a landing page or website, drive traffic to these sites to generate email opt-ins, and then send these opt-in email addresses affiliate offers where you generate a commission.

This is a simple model that if followed correctly can be very lucrative and generate millions of dollars in revenue, but there are many within the space that have adopted a much more short cited mindset which has almost overshadowed the quality “mailers” in the industry.

I see firms and entrepreneurs that almost seem careless in their initial approach.

Some landing pages I review simply involve a picture and an opt-in form.

Something that is literally developed overnight and acts more as a placeholder than anything else.

These simplistic landing pages are widespread seen as spam and although they may collect opt-in data, they are typically sending a vague set of offers that lead to high complaints and filtering by the IPS’s (Internet Service Providers)

In other words, they don’t pass the “eye test” and do not contain any actual content that brings value to any user that is driven to the sites.

The churn rate of many of these short cited businesses is high, and many of them are kicked out of email providers once they show their true cards.

All for a quick buck more less.

There are others however, that have found a way to “toe the line” and and find some longevity in the space.

So if your websites lack content and are too simplistic, you should re-consider your approach before you invest any funds in driving traffic.

Develop content that can be written once, and be utilized over and over again in providing some knowledge and value to users.

Once you have some content and articles that provide some real value to the user, you can start to think about potential affiliate offers that may align with your site.

I think a good general test is if your site won’t get approved by Google for Ad Sense, then you need to add some more meat in there before you drive any real traffic.

My two cents is don’t be short cited.

Build a real online presence within each vertical that can potentially be a long term source of recurring revenue for your online business.
