WordPress Blog Progress-1 month after sign up

Here we are, one month after signing up for WordPress and making the move to launch my personal brand.

I remember how overwhelmed I initially felt, but after reading up on things and doing some research I was able to re-group and focus in on one thing at a time.

Here is where I am at:

WordPress Knowledge:

I like where I am at, as I feel pretty confident in working with the control panel and navigating the world of plugins, widgets, and more.

WordPress simply provides a rock solid foundation to get your blog and website up and running in minutes.

I have also glued myself to WP Beginner for step by step instructions and videos on all things WordPress.

When I felt frustrated, I knew that I had gained that much more info than I had the previous day…so that was a win to me.

Adding up all those wins got me to a place of comfort and confidence, and being only 1 month in i’m pumped for month 2 where I can make some real progress towards launch.

Theme roadblocks and Progress:

I definitely spent too much time thinking about which theme was perfect.

After reading many other blogs and influencers thoughts on this, I experienced first hand why they tell you it’s not worth it.

After going back and forth many times, I just chose one and committed to focusing on other important stuff like blog topics, and where I would provide value to site visitors.

There are literally thousands, or even millions of themes out there so do some general research, pick one and then move on.

Remember, you can always switch themes.

I am sure I will be tweaking some things in the future, but for now I feel good at how things look.

I was at a point of seriously considering a designer to hire for some final changes, and that’s when Themify.me came into the picture.

Themify.me provides an easy to use WordPress drag n drop site builder, exactly what a guy like me needed that wasn’t going to invest the time into learning some advanced skill sets in the coding space.

Certainly a great skill to adopt if your up for it, but not something I was willing to invest the time into.

I couldn’t imagine looking at full screens of code, it makes me dizzy just thinking about it.

My strengths lie in connecting with others and I look forward to focusing on that while providing value along the way.

Themify.me provides you with some straight forward drag n drop functionality that many emerging tools today are built around.

It makes it easy for the average joe to not touch a line of code, all the while building a beautiful website from scratch.

If you want to check out Themify.me for yourself, it’s very affordable and you can even just buy the builder itself that works on any WordPress theme.

Vision:

I am excited about the next month.

I am not sure about the exact launch date when I take the site live, but I should be ready by end of July 2016.

I want to have enough content to come out of the gates with, but also have an email series and content in place for my monthly newsletter.

I have a list of many individuals I already have relationships with, and highlighting their success is a core part of what Mindset Passion Wealth will be.

Along with documenting my journey into developing my personal brand, I will also be highlighting these individuals journeys as an educational and hopefully inspirational resource for all.

The aesthetics are starting to come together, and now I need to focus on some of the behind the scenes stuff.

Challenges:

While I like where I am at, I feel I could pick up the pace and bit and plan things out a bit more strategically.

I am trying to make check lists and hold myself to some deadlines, but that is easier said than done.

Some other limitations lie within not having the direct ability to dig into some of the code and fix some things within the footer or sidebar, but I will tackle this shortly.

The great thing about WordPress is that there is basically a plugin for everything, so its a matter of simply activating it and applying the new functionality.

Were getting there!
